Boogie Oogie Oogie

"Boogie Oogie Oogie" is a song by the American band A Taste of Honey from their 1978 self-titled debut album. Released as their debut single in the summer of 1978, the song became an extremely popular "crossover" disco song. It topped the American pop, soul and disco charts, and became the first certified platinum single in the history of Capitol Records for selling over two million copies; also become one of the most recognizable songs from the disco era. The lyrics beseech listeners to "boogie oogie oogie till you just can't boogie no more".

The group was awarded two platinum records for the single and album, and won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist at the 20th Grammys on February 15, 1979.

Limited edition colored vinyl releases were issued in some nations. In Mexico, the record was red,[1] and in France it was honey colored.[2]

The song was used in the first episode of season four of Nip/Tuck and in an episode of Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil and the first episode of season one of Narcos.

The song can be heard playing in the episode What Big Ideas of season two of the HBO series The Deuce.

In The Simpsons' season 11 episode "Behind the Laughter", the Simpson family perform two songs whose melodies bear resemblance to "Boogie Oogie Oogie", "Simpsons Boogie" and "Simpsons Christmas Boogie".

The song was heard in The Nanny Season 4 Episode 8, An Affair To Dismember when Fran and Nigel are in a nightclub.

In House, M.D. Season 2 Episode 3, House says "Boogie Oogie Oogie".

The song was covered in an episode of Nickelodeon's show Taina by Christina Vidal.

The song is used in the films At Close Range, Barcelona, Contact, Breast Men, Mystery Men, Screwed, Canvas, and The Nice Guys. Other television shows that feature the song include WKRP in Cincinnati, The King of Queens, Everybody Hates Chris, The Parkers, White Heat, Muppets Tonight, Pose and Scandal. It's also featured in the video games Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony and Boogie.[3]
