It was first revealed that "Chicago" would be the first release from the Xscape album.[3] However, plans changed and "Love Never Felt So Good" became the debut release instead. Jackson told his longtime friend he wanted a space-like theme to the song and he wanted to use his voice as the background music looping his ooooos. Jackson did help write the track but didn't receive credit.
