History
In November 2017, the state government announced the station would be built with a scheduled late-2019 completion date.[6][7][8] The station, built as a part of the Regional Rail Revival Ballarat Line Upgrade project, was constructed in order to serve the future residential developments occurring nearby.
On 26 October 2018, the station's designs were revealed[9] and at the same time, station was renamed from Toolern to Cobblebank.[10]
The station was opened on 1 December 2019.[11] 1000 community members turned up to the opening celebration.[12]
Facilities, platforms & services
The station has a ticketing office, Protective Services Officer station, waiting room, male, female and accessible toilets, Parkiteer bicycle parking cage, an accessible pedestrian overpass with lifts, ramps and stairs, two side platforms, and also bus and car parking.[13] The station has provision for two express railway tracks,[14] which will most likely be laid after electrification works to Melton are complete.[15]
