Dormers Wells High School

Dormers Wells High School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in the Ealing area of London, England. A new £30 million project designed by Nicholas Hare Architects with Balfour Beatty Construction saw the old school building replaced with a new state-of-the-art facility. The main features are: extra school places, provision of a hearing impaired unit, new facilities including new business and ICT suites at the front of the school, landscaped outdoor spaces with new school allotments, sports facilities include two football pitches, a cricket pitch and nets, running track and long-jump, new furniture and equipment throughout the school and significant ICT investment.[1]

House System

All students and staff at Dormers Wells High School are allocated to one of six Houses. The House System challenges students to get involved with a number of school events and competitions building resilience, integrity and confidence. Opportunities exist to become part of the House Leadership Team with positions of House Captain, Deputy House Captain, House Sports Captain and Deputy Sports Captain.The House Leaders are the head of the house.[2]

Student Leadership

The school offers opportunities for students across all year groups to develop their skills and to work together to deliver a cohesive, school wide initiative which engages students from Year 7 to 13.[4]

The House System

All students are placed in a House. Opportunities exist to become part of the House Leadership Team with positions of House Leaders, House Sports Captain and Deputy Sports Captain. House Leadership roles have a key position in running the houses, house activities and leading assemblies.

  • Plain black coat (no lettering or patterns)
  • Black blazer with school and house badge
  • House lanyard
  • Black traditional school skirt of knee length or longer
  • White school shirt
  • Plain black V-neck traditional jumper
  • School tie
  • Plain black/white socks
  • Plain black shoes (laces should be black)
  • Plain black hijab, turban or patka (if worn)

Denim, leather or leather look jackets/coats are not permitted.

Hats and caps are only to be worn outside the school building and should be plain black.

School shirt should be tucked in at all times with the top button done up

Any belts worn should be black in colour with a small buckle.

Trainers or canvas shoes (e.g. Vans/Converse style) are not permitted instead of shoes

Sweatshirts and hoodies are not permitted.
