Dougabougou
Dougabougou is a small town and rural commune in the Cercle of Ségou in the Ségou Region of southern-central Mali. The commune covers an area of approximately 180 square kilometers and includes the town and 6 villages.[3] In the 2009 census the population was 29,208.[2] The town lies 20 km north of the Markala dam. Many of the inhabitants are employed in the production of sugar on land irrigated by the Office du Niger scheme. A Chinese-Malian company (Sukala SA) produces sugar in the town.[4]
