Dream of You (Chungha and R3hab song)

"Dream of You" is a song by South Korean singer Chungha together with Moroccan Dutch DJ and record producer R3hab. The song was released on November 27, 2020 by MNH Entertainment and Stone Music as a single. It was later included on the singer's debut Korean-language studio album Querencia.[3][4]

Background and promotion

On November 18, Chungha dropped a series of teasers on her social media channels and one of which states a new collaboration single "Dream of You" between the singer and an unnamed artist, which would be released on November 27.[5] On November 23, 2020, the unnamed artist was revealed to be Dutch DJ and record producer R3hab.[6] The performance video teaser was released on November 25.[7]

Composition and lyrics

"Dream of You" was written by Fadil El Ghoul, Michael Fatkin, Peter Hanna, Rebecca King and VINCENZO. It is produced by R3hab It runs for three minutes and twelve seconds.

The punchy, bass-heavy, house-pop cut sees Chung Ha deliver some of her boldest, most seductive lyrics while delivering her signature honeyed vocals through the dreamy hook.[8]

It is created from the beautiful harmony of retro sounds generated by strings, brass, and vocoder mixed with the dreamlike sound from the synthesizer. The vocal chopping elements heard within the intro are arranged throughout the song to make the single even more charismatic. You can once again experience the charm of CHUNG HA's deep mid to low vocals, as heard in her recent single "Bad Boy".[9]

Music video

According to Republic World, the music video "impressed fans by the impeccable dancing style of Chungha, where many are even comparing her dancing with iconic singer-dancer Michael Jackson. Chungha could be seen in showcasing her Smooth Criminal like dance skills."[9]
