Duleeka Marapana

Wasala Kulathun Wijekoon Mudiyanselage Duleeka Kumari Wijekoon Marapana[1] commonly as Duleeka Marapana (Sinhala: දුලිකා මාරපන; born 15 November 1975)[2] is an actress and public speaker from Sri Lankan stage, television and cinema.[3][4] Marapana is best known for the role "Dingiri Amma" in Malee teledrama.[5][6]

Stage drama career

Duleeka Marapana started her acting career in 1997 while in university, starring in various stage dramas.[7] Her most-notable dramas were Sapathnee( best actress), Swarnamali (best actress), Katu Yahana (nominated), Sevanali Ha Minissu, House of Bernarda Alba (best supporting actress)[8] Katu Yahana[9] and Upanda Maranaya.[10] In 2014 she appeared in her own production of Lawrencege Manamali,[11] alongside her husband Sujeewa Priyal Yaddehige.[12]

Their wedding was celebrated during a stage drama on 13 and 14 August 2015.[13][14][15] Lawrance ge Manamali has been staged 382 shows produced by Own Production house 3rd Bell Theater.

Television

In Sumathi Tele Awards, Dulika Marapana won the best actress award for her role in Depath Nai, Himakatayam, Rathriya, Sudheera, Isuru Bawana, and Ridee Ittankaraya, Me wasantha kalayai (best supporting ).[16][17] After that, her most-popular role was Dingiri Amma on teledramas Malee[18] and Aththamma, For this Malee, Aththamma she won People's Award two times. broadcast on TV Derana.[19][20] More recently she appeared in the popular Sudu Anguru and stage play The bride of Lawrence (ලෝරන්ස් ගේ මනමාලි) 3rd Bell Theatre.[21]

The actress, who is also actively engaged in environmental conservation and activism, played a lead role in an environmental movie Suparna.[22][23]
