In 1998, Wilhelm Omsted was appointed as the presiding judge.[2]

Eidsivating was created in 1995, when the former Eidsivating Court of Appeal was split into two; the Oslo-based section was renamed the Borgarting Court of Appeal, while the northern section retained the Eidsivating name.[3] The then presiding judge, Wilhelm Omsted, became the new presiding judge of the Borgarting Court of Appeal.[2]
