Hardanger District Court
Hardanger District Court (Norwegian: Hardanger tingrett) is a district court for the Hardanger region of Vestland county, Norway. It is based in the village of Lofthus in Ullensvang Municipality, but it also has courts in Norheimsund and Odda. The court covers the municipalities of Eidfjord, Kvam, Ullensvang, and Ulvik and it is subordinate to the Gulating Court of Appeal. [1]

Prior to the municipal changes in 2020, Granvin Municipality was also part of this court (it is now part of Voss Municipality and the Bergen District Court).[1]
The court is a court of first instance. Its judicial duties are mainly to settle criminal cases and to resolve civil litigation as well as bankruptcy. The administration and registration tasks of the court include death registration, issuing certain certificates, performing duties of a notary public, and officiating civil wedding ceremonies. Cases from this court are heard by a combination of professional judges and lay judges. Cases from this district court may be appealed to the Frostating Court of Appeal.[2]
