Emma Sheerin

Emma Sheerin (born 1991/92)[1] is an Irish Sinn Féin politician from Derry, Northern Ireland. Since 2018 she has been MLA for Mid Ulster.[2][3]

Background

Sheerin is a native of Ballinascreen.

Political career

Sheerin's Mid Ulster constituency, west of Lough Neagh and containing Magherafelt, Coalisland and Cookstown.[4]

For several years, Sheerin was a member of and Sinn Féin's Cúige Uladh Officer Board and the Ard Chomhairle.

Aged 26, she was selected to take Ian Milne's seat in the Northern Ireland Assembly for Mid Ulster.[5] She was later named as Equality Spokesperson. However, she has yet to actually take her seat, as the Assembly is collapsed.[6]

Since 31 March 2020, she is serving as a Committee member for Ad Hoc Committee on the COVID-19 Response.[7]

Personal life

Sheerin lives in Knockloughrim.[8]
