G. Sudhakaran
G. Sudhakaran (born 1 November 1950) is an Indian politician. He is the Minister for Public Works in the Pinarayi Vijayan ministry of the Kerala Legislative Assembly.[1] He belongs to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and represents the Ambalappuzha constituency.

Early life
G. Sudhakaran was born to P. Gopala Kurup and L. Pankajakshi Amma at Vedaraplavu Thamarakkulam Village, in Mavelikkara. He graduated with a master of arts degree, followed by a bachelor of laws.
His siblings include elder brother Vijayan and two younger brothers, Bhuvaneswaran and Madhusoodanan and a younger sister, Thulasi.
While a student, he participated in politics. He was awarded Best Speaker and Best Essayist in among College and University Students of Kerala.
Career
Politician
He joined CPI (M) in 1967. He became Joint Secretary of K.S.F; Office Bearer of K.S.Y.F. at State Level and District Level at Alappuzha and Kollam. He was a founding member, First State President, General Secretary, All India Vice-President and one of the first members of the Central Executive Committee of S.F.I.
He was a member of the Kerala University Syndicate for 12 years. He served on the CPI (M) State Committee, C.I.T.U. State Executive Committee, CPI (M) Kollam and Alappuzha District Committees and CPI (M) District Secretariat, Regional Transport Authority and Industrial Relations Committee, Kuttanad District Secretary CPI (M), Alappuzha, First President, Alappuzha District Council; District Secretary, State Treasurer and ALl INdia Committee Member, Agricultural Workers Union.
He was Alappuzha District President of C.I.T.U. He served as president, Union of Kerala Spinners Limited (C.I.T.U), Scooters Kerala, K.S.D.P., Excel Glass, Lorry Transport Drivers and Cleaners Union, Alappuzha District Committee, Kuttanad Rice Cultivators Protection Convention, Tagore Memorial Comparative Literature Society; Member Executive Committee of K.A.U., Urban Development Bank, Alappuzha and Kayankulam Spinning Mill; Secretary, CPI (M) Kuttanad Taluk; Chairman, Alappuzha District Co-operative Spinning Mill; District President, Head Load and General Workers Union, Alappuzha.
He served as Minister of Co-operation, Coir and Devaswom during 12th Kerala Legislative Assembly and participated in agitations and struggles. He suffered police brutality and was imprisoned several times including imprisonment under Defence India Rule in Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail during the Emergency Period.
He is Member, CPI (M), Alappuzha District Committee and State Committee. He was elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1996 and 2006.
