General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania

The General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania (Generolo Jono Žemaičio Lietuvos karo akademija) is a state-sponsored institution of higher learning based in Vilnius, Lithuania. It was founded in 1994 by the Lithuanian Seimas, and is overseen by the Ministry of National Defense. Originally known as the Military Academy of Lithuania, it was renamed in 1998 in honor of General Jonas Žemaitis, a commander of the armed anti-Soviet resistance in Lithuania.

Facilities

The Academy, comprising nine departments, also holds a library, a research center, sports complexes, a museum, and barracks.

Affiliations

It works in cooperation with other NATO countries, and has established relationships with the Virginia Military Institute,[1] the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and the École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr.

Program

Programs lead to bachelor's degrees in personnel management, transport engineering management, and international relations, and post-graduate degrees in personnel management and military diplomacy.
