Genius Party

Genius Party (Japanese: ジーニアス・パーティ, Hepburn: Jīniasu Pāti) is two anthology films made up of 12 short animated films from Studio 4°C. It was envisioned to form a single release.

Releases

The first volume, containing seven shorts and entitled Genius Party and was released on July 7, 2007. The second volume, containing five shorts and titled Genius Party Beyond, was released on February 15, 2008. Each short in the anthology has a distinctive animation style and unique story from the directors including Masaaki Yuasa, Shōji Kawamori, Shinichirō Watanabe, and Mahiro Maeda.[3] GKIDS and Shout Factory released both volumes on Blu-ray on October 15, 2019.[4]

3 "Deathtic 4" Shinji Kimura A boy in world of zombies finds a living frog that falls from the sky and he tries to return the creature to its own world.
4 "Doorbell" Yoji Fukuyama A young man encounters other versions of himself causing confusion about his own existence.
5 "Limit Cycle" Hideki Futamura A salary man, seemingly trapped in an endless cycle of work, makes an existential examination of the world. Illustrated in the manner of a psychedelic hallucination.
6 "Happy Machine" Masaaki Yuasa An infant suddenly discovers that everything in its nursery is fake and goes out into the world outside where it encounters a range of alien like creatures, some friendly and some not.
7 "Baby Blue" Shinichirō Watanabe A bittersweet story about two high-school students and long-time friends who skip school for a day before one leaves for another city.

4 "Toujin Kit" Tatsuyuki Tanaka In a steam punk world, a young woman illegally creates alien life forms inside stuffed animals, but the authorities eventually catch up with her.
5 "Dimension Bomb" Kōji Morimoto An eccentric young girl summons boy from another dimension but their relationship changes resulting in an explosion of visual pyrotechnics as they each follow their own destiny.
