Biography
Bishop of Salina
On July 12, 1999, Vincke was ordained to the priesthood. Pope Francis appointed Vincke bishop for the Diocese of Salina on June 13, 2018.[1][2] His was consecrated as bishop on August 22, 2018. Vincke was employed at Father Gabriel Richard Catholic High School in Ann Arbor Michigan.
In September 2018, the Archdiocese of Washington announced that disgraced former cardinal Theodore McCarrick would reside at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria, Kansas.[3] Vincke explained his decision to permit the arrangement by a need to have mercy while pursuing justice, making reference to St. Maria Goretti, who forgave her killer on her deathbed.[4] (In January 2020, it was announced that McCarrick, by then laicized, had moved to an undisclosed location.)
