Gheorghe Dima Music Academy

Gheorghe Dima Music Academy is an educational institution located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The institution was founded in 1919, and currently comprises various departments including composition, conducting, musicology, musical pedagogy, canto, choregraphic pedagogy, and opera. Notable alumni include Christian Wilhelm Berger, Boldizsár Csiky, Tiberiu Olah, and Anita Hartig.

The Academy supports scientific research in the areas of musical creation, performance and musicology. It is the first Romanian institution to organize doctoral studies in the musical field.

The Faculty of Theoretical Studies organizes entrance examinations for the following study programs: - Music (language of tuition: Romanian) (3 years) - Music (language of tuition: English) (3 years) - Composition (4 years) - Musicology (4 years) - Conducting (4 years)

Piatra-Neamţ Branch, consisting of extensions of study programs similar to the ones offered within the two GDMA Cluj-Napoca faculties (Faculty of Music performance, Faculty of Theoretical Studies), organizes entrance examinations for the following study programs: - Music (language of tuition: Romanian - 3 years, full-time) - Music Performance - Instruments (4 years, full-time) - Music Performance – Opera Singing (4 years, full-time)

Graduate (MA) Studies

The Faculty of Music Performance organizes the following graduate study programs in the art-music field: - Music Performance, with two lines of study: Instruments and Opera Singing (2 years, full-time learning) - Musical Performing Arts, with three lines of study: Musical Theater Directing, Choreographic Directing, Choreographic Education (2 years, full-time learning)

The Faculty of Theoretical Studies organizes the following graduate study programs in the art-music field: - Musical Art in Romanian language (2 years, full-time) - Musical Art English language (2 years, full-time) - Composition, Musicology, Conducting, with three lines of study: Composition, Musicology, Conducting (2 years, full-time)

“Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy is a doctoral studies organizing institution (D.S.O.I), including in its structure the Sigismund Toduță Doctoral School. The unit organizes and runs doctoral programs of a scientific and professional type, conferring the title of Doctor in Music.

Timetable for the admission process; doctoral (PhD) studies – 2019: 2-5th of Sept. – registration period 9, 10, 11th of Sept.: audition and entrance examination

Undergraduate (BA) study programs organized through Distance Learning are accredited to function on the basis of Governmental Decree 158/29.03.2018. Curricula are approved by the Music Academy's Senate and the National Ministry of Education, being identical, in terms of structure and number of credits, to the GDMA's undergraduate study programs. The Department for Distance and Part-Time Learning (D.D.P.T.L) organizes entrance examinations for the following specializations:
