Grace Saif

Grace Saif (born 7 October 1995) is a British actress known for playing Ani Achola on Netflix's TV series, 13 Reasons Why.[1][2][3]

Early life

Saif was born and grew up in Manchester before she moved to Crawley and attended Hazelwick School,[4] a few years below another notible attendee Erin Doherty. In 2013, Saif and Doherty took part in parallel dramatic performences with the Mostar Youth Theatre and Hazelwick School in Mostar.[5] After completing her A-levels, Saif then went on to complete a BA in Acting at RADA, where she received a bursery from BAFTA for £4,500.[6] Her BAFTA mentor was Billie Pipper[6] and graduated from RADA in 2017.[7][8]

Career

Saif made an acting debut in Wilton,[9] a short film directed by Cecile Emeke[10] about a group of cousins challenged about their past.

Saif later went on in 2017 to perform in a guest role as Angel Hurley on the BBC's soap opera Doctors.[11][12]

In 2018 she then secured a role in Night Out[13] as well as having a voice role in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth.[14] Saif also went on to perform at Donmar Warehoues in David Harrower's rendition of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie where Saif was cast as 'Monica'.[15][16]

A review by Blizzard Watch commented on Saif's performance as the character Abby in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth;

  • As reviewed by Cory Taylor, "The host of that tea party is a little girl named Abby, and she was voiced by Grace Saif, in a chilling performance that’s sure to make you leave the lights on."[17]

As of 2019 onward, she is currently best known for her role in 13 Reasons Why as the character Ani Achola across seasons 3 and 4.[11][18][19]

In 2020, Saif was cast in a short film called 'The Visit' directed by Ebele Tate.[20] She took part in a Right Here Festival event on the 29 January 2020 commissioned by Crawley Creatives.[21] Shorlty after on the 21 May 2020, Saif took part in the Jermyn Street Theatre's The Sonnet Project that took place within the Covid-19 restrictions in the UK alongside actors from Olivia Colman to Helena Bonham Carter,[22] were she performed a rendition of Shakespeare's Sonnet 62.[23][24][22]

Personal life

In 2019, Saif faced online bullying through social media channels and subsequently deleted pictures on Instagram and restricted access to their Twitter account.[19][25][26][27]
