Hamren

Hamren (IPA: ˈhæmrən) is a town and headquarter of West Karbi Anglong district (The Ancient Lalung Tiwa Hills) in the Indian state of Assam. The town is situated on a hill.

Demographics

As of 2011 India census,[1] Hamren had a population of 8694. Males constitute 4406 (50.5%) of the population and females 4288 (49.5%). Hamren has an average literacy rate of 86%, higher than the national average of 74%: male literacy is 90%, and female literacy is 82%.

Tourism attractions

The town is surrounded by green hills. Breeze blow the town throughout the year. Kopili river passes through it. Towards its southern border, there are the hills of Meghalaya and the lake of Borapani.
