India House (Colombo)

India House, located at 36-38 Galle Road, Colombo, is the official residence in Colombo for the Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka.[1][2]

The building was built in the early 1900s as part of the estate of Charles de soysa, whose descendants later sold the property around 1927 to the Imperial Bank of India, which was later purchased by the Indian Government in 1956. It is a colonial style villa/bungalow, with large gardens located along Thurstan Road, once part of the Alfred house estate.[3] It is guarded by personnel from the Border Security Force.
