Indonesian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate)

Indonesian Orthodox Church (Indonesian: Gereja Ortodoks Indonesia, abbreviated GOI) is the legal name of the deanery of the Patriarchal Exarchate in South-East Asia in Indonesia.[1][2][3]

History

Ever since it was incorporated by the ROCOR into the Archdiocese of Sydney, Australia and New Zealand under Archbishop Hilarion Kapral[2] through the help of Archbishop Mark (Golovkov) in 2003, it has been headed by the Mitred Archimandrite Father Daniel.[1]

In 2019, Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the ROCOR, decided to canonically release Fr. Daniel Byantoro from his pastoral responsibilities and did not give him other responsibilities.[4]

Structure

It has approximately 2,500 members[1] and includes 13 parishes that spread in Java, Bali, Sumatra, Celebes, Timor and Papua.
