synopsis

A police officer Chezhian, investigates the mystery behind unnatural deaths after taking charge of his new post at a hill station.

Plot

In the a mountainous village called, Shikapura Hilli, it starts to turn dark as if night time, during mid day. 5 men, working in the fields, and a man trying to evade termites in his house, are mysteriously killed by an unseen force at the same time. No evidence is found. 3 days later, the inspector investigating the case kills himself outside the police station.

A new inspector Chezhian, comes to the village with his wife, Regina and daughter Diya. He reached the police quarters and learns from the house broker that everything in the village is made of steel and no one uses wood. If a wooden product is used, high amounts of termites comes out of nowhere and destroys it. Chezhian starts investigation and is helped by head constable Kuzhandaivelu. Meanwhile, Regina and Diya are threatened by crows hitting on their windows.

Chezhian also learns of a man called Moulikaar, who is known by the villagers to be using black magic. When Chezhian and Kuzhandai go to his home, they discover that he had been doing prayers throughout the day and is not found.

Late one night, Kuzhandaivelu who is on night duty gets a call from a desperate woman seeking help. The woman repeats that he knows her and pleas for help and the line goes dead. Confused Kuzhandai tells his colleague who says the phone was repaired for 2 days. Later him and the others are scared by a young girls face, seen through the window. Scared, Kuzhandai calls Chezhian who comes over.

Chezhian learns that it is only raining at the police station and nowhere else, much to the others' shock. He asks telephone operators to check the call received the other night, after he learns that broken phone can get lines through sometimes.

He decides to return home when Moulikaar draws a line on the road with white powder. Chezhian runs after him but loses him in the woods. There, he is approached by a white figure which doesn't harm him. He comes home and is seduced by Regina. They get intimate and have sex. Later, Kuzhandai calls Chezhian that the phone call was from Chezhian's house. He starts thinking but gets a call from Regina. Regina tells him she is at the supermarket. Confused Chezhian searches the house but he is alone. He confined in Kuzhandai and both decide to go to the supermarket. Through CCTV camera, they realise that Regina was at the supermarket and someone else was at home with Chezhian.

Chezhian tracks down Moulikaar and confronts him. Moulikaar tells something about a woman Sila, and says he would say further the next day, provided Chezhian is alive. The woman who was with Chezhian is revealed to be called Sila. It gets dark once more and Moulikaar is later killed by Sila as he tried to help Chezhian. Chezhian's pet dog, Danny goes missing. Regina and Diya get scared over a voice sounding like Regina, calling over for Diya.

Later, Diya gets scared of a woman at school and gets rashes all over her body. Regina calls Chezhian and he goes to the hospital. There he gets a call from the landline, and gets shocked as Regina is in front of him. Regina's voice is heard over the phone who tells that Diya is sick. Chezhian gets home and both Chezhian and Regina don't see Sila, though in the same room. Later Diya screams and scares her parents.

Chezhian gets the autopsy reports of Moukikaar and sees that Moulikaar had written, 16:113 on his hand, hastily using a thorn. No one gets the clue. Forensic department says that there were two types of blood found and the other is a rare group known as HH Blood type. Chezhian sends Regina and Diya to Kuzhandai's home. He later brings the dog squad so the dog can get the scent of both Chezhian and the other woman. He lays down the bed sheet where he got intimate with the unknown woman. The dog tracks it to a house over the mountains. There Chezhian and his team see that the things are made of wood and there are no termites. He later see drawings of grass, termites, fish, snake and dog. He also sees some words in Arabic. Danny is also there in a zombie like manner, and hurts Kuzhandai.

Chezhian gets the shortlisted people of the rare type of group and finds that a woman had written her signature in Arabic, similar to the word in the house. He deduces that the name of the woman, Shikara and the village is the same, and someone who knows the history of the village would help them. He gets the picture of the woman and shows to Diya who screams.

Chezhian later finds the clue given by Moulikaar as a verse number in the Quran. He later meets a Muslim Sage who tells about the village. Thousands of years ago, 6 Jinns were present in the village. Due to their disturbance they were hanged. The six of them vowed to reincarnate and destroy the village. For years and years, they were born as grass, termites, fish, snake and dog. The sixth Jinn was born as a human, Sila, during the Gujarat earthquake. She was brought up as a normal girl, but later realises that she is a Jinn when fire does not hurt her. She gets dreams of her previous life and returns to the village. The reason she got intimate with Chezhian is because Chezhian is from a devotional lineage. If she gets pregnant with Chezhian's child, she could kill it and Diya at the same time, 6:06pm, and become powerful.

Chezhian orders some people to kill all the other routes that the Jinn can take, such as the grass, termites, fish, snake and dog. Chezhian gets Regina and Diya to a hill house, where Diya gets processed. She kills an old man who tries to help them and disappears. Chezhian, Regina, Kuzhandaivelu and a lady constable Jayashree are threatened by the Jinn. They all gets separated. Chezhian finds Diya but the Jinn pushes her and her life is at stake, hanging by a pole. The Jinn slowly losing its power due to the other avatars destroyed, tries to kill Diya. She lights a emerald fire under Diya. Chezhian jumps down with Diya and the Jinn prepares the weapon to destroy the unborn child in her. Chezhian tricks the Jinn saying he would kill Diya himself before 6:06pm. He throws Diya into the fire and the Jinn jumps in as well. She gets burned but Diya comes out safe. Chezhian explains that the Jinn is created by this emerald fire and that he realized that Diya did not feel the heat where the fire was under her. The Jinn Sila diminishes.
