Kanaka (actress)
Lakshmi Priya, popularly known by her stage name, Kanaka (born 14 June 1973) is an Indian film actress who worked in the South Indian film industry mostly in Tamil and Malayalam cinema. She was active in the South Indian movie industry from 1989 to 2000. She played the main female lead roles in some superhit Malayalam films like Godfather (1991), Vietnam Colony (1992) and Golanthara Vartha (1993).[1]

Personal life
Kanaka is the daughter of Tamil actress Devika and Devanand She is also the great-granddaughter of Telugu cinema's first sound film's producer Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu.
Career
She started her career as a heroine in the Tamil movie Karagatakaran, directed by Gangai Amaran, a blockbuster movie which ran more than a year. Kanaka acted in many Tamil movies, including Athisaya Piravi (1990), Periya Veetu Pannakkaran, Periya Kudumbam and Samundi. She also starred in a few Telugu and Malayalam movies with major stars like Mukesh, Mammootty and Mohanlal.
She has acted in more than 50 films in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu as the leading actress in a span of 10 years. Her last Malayalam film was Ee Mazha Thenmazha.[2]
