Kandukur, Prakasam district
Kandukur or Kandukuru is a town(Urban area) in Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a municipality and the headquarters of Kandukur mandal as well as Kandukur revenue division(KRD) which comprises 23 mandals.[3]

Geography
Kandukuru (earlier known as Skandapuri) is located at 15.2165°N 79.9042°E.[4] It has an average elevation of 13 metres (43 ft).[5]
Demography
As of 2017 India census,[6] Kandukur had a population of 1,54,000. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kandukur has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 55%. In Kandukuru, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Kandukur delimited for Nellore (Lok Sabha constituency) as per Delimitation Commission Act, 2002.
Vidhan Sabha
Kandukur delimited for Kandukur (Assembly constituency) which falls under Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
Education
The primary and secondary school education is imparted by government, aided and private schools, under the School Education Department of the state.[7][8]
Language
Most people in Kandukur speak Telugu and it is first official and native language. Some people speak Urdu as their mother tongue and it is second official language. Now-a-days some people using English too for commercial purpose.
Migration
People from Northern states of India like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh migrated to Kandukur with their families for trading and livelihood.
Institutions
Central Tobacco Research Institution - Research Station. In 1977, Central Tobacco Research Institution established a research station at Kandukur, Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh state to conduct research on flue-cured virginia tobacco grown in Southern Light Soils(SLS) of Andhra Pradesh. The research station has 42.2 ha of land with good infrasturctural facilities to conduct research on crop improvement, crop production and crop protection.
Out of 1,10,000 ha under FCV tobacco in Andhra Pradesh, the area in Prakasam and Nellore districts is about 75,000 ha with about 60% under SLS and rest under Southern Black Soils (SBS).
