Plot

Season 1

The plot of the series revolves around a caring wife named Poonam (Gurdeep Kohli), her husband Rohit Mehra, (Ronit Roy) who is a chartered accountant, and an interior designer named Ananya Sharma (Mona Singh). Poonam and Rohit have two daughters named Bani (Pooja Banerjee) and Nikki (Palak Jain). On the outside, they seem like an ordinary happy family, but the truth is that Rohit is in love with Ananya. When the secret finally comes out, it shocks everyone involved. Rohit's family starts to hate Ananya. Rohit decides to divorce his first wife and marry Ananya. After several arguments and a fight, Rohit divorces his Poonam and marries Ananya. Everyone is very unhappy.

After few happy days following her marriage, Rohit's daughter Bani becomes depressed, as she is not happy with her married life. Rohit goes back to his family to support his daughter through her stress and depression. Seeing this situation makes Ananya feel insecure, leading to everyday fights with Rohit. She believes that Rohit is still connected with his family, that his wife and daughters are his fist priority, and that she is nothing in his life. Unhappy, she writes a letter for Rohit and leaves the house.

Season 2

Upon reading Ananya's letter in the first episode of Season 2, Rohit becomes upset and thinks to himself, "how could she do this to me? I left everything for her and what has she done?" He looks for her everywhere but fails to find her. After a period of searching he learns that she is in Doha, and immediately goes there to take her back. After many tries, he manages to convince her to come back to India, where they set up a new life together. Everything seems to become normal again. However, Rohit's first wife Poonam starts dating a young man named Abhimanyu (Sayush Sanjay Nayyar).

In subsequent episodes, Bani realizes that she never loved her husband and wants divorce him, while Rohit goes through a financial crises but does not tell Ananya. One day Poonam informs Ananya of Rohit's financial issues. Ananya is shocked that Rohit not tell her about his money problems, as the two of them were planning a huge trip. Because of this misunderstanding, they go through a huge fight. Poonam is also very upset, as she is uncomfortable with the love she is receiving from Abhimanyu. She is also going through menopause, which has made her emotionally unstable. Eventually she comes to Rohit for a one-night stand. Poonam tells Rohit not to let Ananya know of their affair, as she would be very upset and end their relationship.

On Christmas Eve the all of the family and friends were invited to a party. Ananya originally believed that Poonam spent the night with Abhimanyu, but she eventually comes to know the truth by the end of the party. Rohit tries to explain, but Ananya doesn't want to listen to him. She says, "once a cheater, always a bloody cheater" and leaves him again. She was pregnant but doesn't share the news with Rohit, as upon knowing the truth, she was broken and immediately left for Doha.

Season 3

After four years, Ananya has a 3 year old baby boy named Kabir. She is still living in Qatar. Rohit has completely destroyed his life. He is now a drunkard who is always hanging out with girls.

One day, Ananya comes to know that she has to sell her company in India, which she had given to Bani, and comes back to India. Bani tells Ananya it's Ananya's mistake that she was given this responsibility. She reminds Ananya that she was given the company when Ananya was going through some bad days wanted to divert her mind. However, Bani also apologizes for her mistake. Ananya decides to fix the company with Bani. Ananya meets everyone, including Rohit, who she has a fight with. She decides that she wants to get divorced from him, but he is not ready for it.

One day, Rohit comes to meet his son, but Ananya doesn't allow it. A girl Rohit has been dating for 2–3 years wants to marry him. Rohit and Poonam's younger daughter Nikki also wants to marry a guy. Everyone is busy in preparation for the two weddings. On the day of Nikki's marriage, police come to arrest Rohit because a woman filed a kidnapping report for her daughter (whom he is dating). Everyone tries to get him out of jail in time for the wedding, but the police are not ready to free him. On the day of Nikki's marriage, Rohit says in front of his family that he married the girl he was dating. Everyone is shocked. Ananya feels sad and wants to leave.

Next morning the daughter's mother comes to arrest Rohit again. She tells her daughter that the couple cannot be married Rohit is her sister's husband. That woman is Ananya's mother, who had left Ananya in a foster home when she was a baby. Her mother gave a huge amount of money to pay for Ananya's expenses but never met her. Ananya lived her life alone without parents and siblings which is why she is was very broken. The girl, in front of everyone, accepts that Rohit helped her in this matter because he loves Ananya so much. She then leaves.

Ananya misses her flight and decides to live in India with family. She comes to meet Rohit with her son Kabir. He apologizes for everything and wants another chance, but she says "I don't want my husband back".
