It is located in the southwestern part of Bulgaria.
Geography
The town of Kresna lies at the north end of the Kresna Gorge of the Struma River at the foot of Pirin mountain. The Melo hills are striking sandstone formations. There are also larger sandstone hills near Melnik. The old name of Kresna is Pirin.
Namesakes
Kresna Gully on Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica is named after Kresna.
