Krivogaštani

The settlement Krivogaštani is located in the Pelagonia plain, in the northwestern part of the Field of Prilep. To the west of Krivogaštani is Busheva Mountain, and to the south, east and north is Pelagonia, and the settlement itself lies at an altitude of about 607 meters. When it comes to the traffic connection and the geographical location, it has to be mentioned that Krivogaštani is a real crossroad, because here pass the main roads that connect the nearby cities. Namely, east of Krivogaštani is the city of Prilep, which is 19 km away, and to the west is Kruševo, 11 km away from Krivogaštani. To the south, i.e to Demir Hisar leads an asphalt road, which winds its way through rich rural settlements, and then continues to Bitola. Also to the north leads an asphalt road to the village Ropotovo, from where it continues to Makedonski Brod. The climate, as in the whole Pelagonia plain, so also in Krivogaštani has changed to Mediterranean. Precipitation ranges from 700 to 900 mm of water sediment throughout the year. They are the most intense in spring and autumn, and the first snow usually falls in late November or early December. The winds blow all year round, but most intensely in spring and [[autumn. There are no significant rivers passing by Krivogaštani, and there are also no lakes. The rivers that pass near Krivogaštani are small and mainly dry up during the summer. The closest river to the settlement is the Krushevo-Norovska River which is fed by water mainly from the Kruševo Lake, and is located west and southwest of Krivogaštani. This river flows into the river Blato which is east of Krivogaštani. In the immediate vicinity of Krivogaštani, and especially on the east side, at Krajni Rid, Petocnata Ricka, Gradishte, Manastirishte and Lozje, it is quite rich in wildlife, and the smallest game is most common: rabbit, fox, weasel and many reptiles. On the east side, i.e in the areas near the river Blato, around which are the areas of Solunov Dab, Chair and Livadje there are a large number of bird species such as wild geese, pigeons, ducks, partridges and others. In the settlement itself, whole flocks of wild pigeons, jackals, doves, sparrows, storks, swallows can be found, and special attention is drawn by the grey herons that live on the old oak in the church of St. Demetrius, located in the center of the neighborhood. Gray herons come in early March and leave in August.

According to the statistics of the Bulgarian ethnographer Vasil Kanchov from 1900, 860 inhabitants lived in the village of Krivogaštani, all Bulgarians.[1]

According to the Bulgarian Exarchate Secretary Dimitar Mišev ("La Macédoine et sa Population Chrétienne"), in 1905 there were 920 Bulgarians in Krivogaštani in total, which he labels 680 as exarchists and 240 as Serbomans (patriarchs).[2]

According to the 2002 census, the village had a total of 1,870 inhabitants.[3] Ethnic groups in the village include:[3]

Every year in March, the manifestation "Days of the Macedonian folk costume" is held in Krivogaštani. Cultural and artistic societies from all over North Macedonia are participating in the event, which is of a revival and competitive nature.

Local football club FK Mladost plays in the Macedonian Third League (Center Division).[4]
