Lee Kizzire

William Lee Kizzire (December 21, 1915 – November 1943) was a professional American football player who played running back for one season for the Detroit Lions.[1]

During World War II, Kizzare was shot down on a mission near the island of Wewak, in the Pacific Theater. His body was never found.[2] Wewak was the site of the largest Japanese airbase in mainland New Guinea and was subjected to repeated bombing by Australian and American planes.
