Lim Ban Hong
Lim Ban Hong (simplified Chinese: 林万锋; traditional Chinese: 林萬鋒; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Lîm Bān-hong; born 22 March 1977) is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali as well as having served as Senator since March 2020. He served as Member of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kelebang from May 2013 to May 2018. He is a member, Vice-President and State Chairman of Melaka of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), a component party of the federal and state ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition which is aligned with another federal and state ruling PN coalition. He was also member of the Transport, Project Rehabilitation and International Trade Executive Committee of the state. He, however, was defeated by the opposition Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Gue Teck and not re-elected as the MLA for Kelebang in 2018 state election.[3] On 4 November 2018, following 2018 party leadership election on 3 November the same year to elect a new party leadership to lead the party to a new direction after collapse of the BN administration on 10 May the same year, Lim was elected as the Vice-President of MCA in election.[4] On 9 March 2020, following the appointment of the new Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and formation of the new PN administration on 1 March the same year, he was nominated and announced as the Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry and, Senator by Muhyiddin for him to be appointed as a deputy minister. He was sworn-in and appointed by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Abdullah a day later on 10 March.[5][6]
