I Dream of Jeannie is an American fantasy sitcom starring Barbara Eden as a 2,000-year-old genie and Larry Hagman as an astronaut who becomes her master, with whom she falls in love and whom she eventually marries. Produced by Screen Gems, the series originally aired from September 1965 to May 1970 on NBC. The series ran for five seasons and produced 139 episodes. The first season consisted of 30 episodes filmed in black and white; all later seasons were filmed in color.

Peterson to the operating room to catch him, Jeannie blinks Tony out just in time. Maureen McCormick appears as a girl patient in the hospital. Jeannie tells Roger what is happening and he tells Dr. Bellows, who naturally doesn't believe him. Jeannie saves Tony by having Roger temporarily be her master.

Dr. Bellows accuses Tony of either forgery or theft and flies in another expert from the Louvre. Jeannie poses as the expert and gets Tony off the hook.

To save the princess, Tony sends Jeannie around the world with tasks so massive that she will miss the three days of her visit. Jeannie comes back early to find the Princess at Tony's house. While talking to Dr. Bellows, Harry says he believes Tony to be the head of an international smuggling ring. Before Tony can get in any real trouble, Jeannie changes all the art into fakes. Only problem is that the rain isn't stopping and the town's flooded.

Tony and Roger are set to date the beauty queens but Jeannie turns the girls into dogs when they arrive.

Tony must try to help Eddie Sheridan (Eddie Firestone), a man wrongly convicted. Some men want to lynch him in order to get his land and cattle. Hoyt Axton appears as Bull, one of bad guys. Guest star: Whit Bissell as Horace Sedgwick, the town banker and ringleader of the bad guys.

The old girlfriend turns out to be married to a mobster (Ted de Corsia), who shows up and wants to kill Tony.

Tony throws Jeannie a pre-birthday party and she invites famous people from the past.

With the football season in full swing, Tony is constantly glued to the TV set. Jeannie realizes she must do something to get his attention and decides to make Tony jealous. She conjures up romantic "Tony Millionaire" (Mike Road) to do the job. Tony Millionaire seems perfect in every way and Tony slowly but surely is becoming very jealous. Until one evening when Tony happens to see Jeannie conjure up the other Tony. He then tells Jeannie that he knew all along the other Tony was fake and he isn't that stupid.

Tony tells Jeannie that each year the Air Force puts on a TV talent show with contestants from each base. Jeannie insists that Tony enter since they need a trophy for the mantle. Despite his lack of talent, Jeannie again "helps" him by giving him the equivalent of Enrico Caruso's operatic singing voice. General Peterson enters him in the NASA talent contest. Unfortunately, Jeannie promised to never give him Caruso's voice again. But, she didn't promise not to give him someone else's voice. Roger reveals Jeannie's birthday as April 1st.

After Roger accidentally uses a free wish from Jeannie to clean a spill on Tony's uniform, the uniform becomes impervious to tears, stains, cutting or burning. Dr. Bellows witnesses these miracles and tries to convince General Peterson, but continually destroys the General's uniforms. General Peterson decides to send Dr. Bellows to Iceland. Jeannie manages to straighten things out.

Dr. Bellows suspects Tony of being a spy when he is at a NASA meeting and is seen in Paris having lunch with Jeannie at the same time. He plants a microphone in Tony's office. Roger and Tony find it and suspect there are spies in NASA. In hopes of catching them, Tony sets up a fake rendezvous at a warehouse that evening. General Peterson and Dr. Bellows show up and Dr. Bellows accuses Tony of being a spy double. Tony and Roger then try to help her regain her memory by trying to convince her that she is a genie and in the process she turns Bellows into a mouse. He is mistaken for a mouse that is to be put on a rocket heading for Mars. Tony and Roger try to not only get Jeannie's memory back, but turn Bellows back to normal before he heads for space.

Tony thinks all is over after thinking the safe has been crushed, but it fell off the conveyor belt and was unharmed. After getting it back, Tony and Roger try to get the safe's creator (Ned Wertimer) to open it, but he says only the President of the United States knows the combination. Susan Howard appears as Miss Temple the Switchboard Operator.

They successfully defuse the bomb, but then scare the expert into thinking the timer started up again to make him leave. Jeannie was knocked unconscious and cannot escape through the drilled holes, so Tony finishes the combination and opens the safe, freeing Jeannie.

After they return, Porter demands to go back to the island, with Tony and Roger explaining how they survived.

While doing so, they have to work hard to stop Dr. Bellows and Gen. Peterson from finding out the truth.

Jeannie II returns and says that she can help her sister get Tony to marry her. She shows her how easy it is to get a man without the aid of magic. Jeannie II uses Roger as her guinea pig. Eventually she gets Roger to propose, and when Jeannie tries to use the same technique on Tony she fails miserably. However, it turns out that this is just another scheme by Jeannie II to finally get Tony into her clutches.

Roger has to tell Jeannie to get her master back, which she does, but leaves the plane in Cuba. She then blinks Tony and Roger back to Cuba. Everyone hates the results of the artist's latest creation, so Jeannie blinks up a new design that drops Helasco into a dead faint.

Meanwhile, Roger blabs to the NASA staff that Jeannie is pregnant and soon Dr. Bellows and General Schaeffer are planning a surprise baby shower. When the guests show up, Jeannie, Tony and Roger must prepare not only for a litter full of magical puppies to arrive, but keep Djinn Djinn out of the living room unless they want a living room full of shredded uniforms.

When Tony is promoted to Colonel and is about to retire from the NASA space program, he breaks his promise to Jeannie for one more space flight. Jeannie is furious and decides to separate from her husband to be a more independent modern woman.

Col. Tony Nelson is on a top-secret space mission for NASA and Jeannie does not know of his whereabouts. To make matters worse, since Tony has been away for a long time, Jeannie cannot remain in the plane of reality for more than three months without an earthly master. She then begins her desperate search for a temporary master which leads her to a singles bar and other misadventures.

DVD

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has released all 5 seasons of I Dream of Jeannie on DVD in Regions 1, 2 & 4.

On August 27, 2013, it was announced that Mill Creek Entertainment had acquired the R1 rights to various television series from the Sony Pictures library including I Dream of Jeannie.[5] They subsequently re-released the first two seasons on DVD on April 1, 2014.[6] On October 6, 2015, Mill Creek Entertainment re-released I Dream of Jeannie: The Complete Series on DVD in Region 1.[7]

In Australia, a repackaged Complete Series collection was released on 23 November 2010 in a purple box (the first version was a pink box). On November 4, 2015 a 50th Anniversary Edition of The Complete Series was released. On 6 July 2016, all five individual seasons were re-released as well as another The Complete Series collection, now distributed through Shock Entertainment.
