Lloyd Yancey

Lloyd Yancey (born December 8, 1962) is a former American football offensive guard in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at Temple University.

Early years

Yancey attended Chestnut Hill Academy, where he was a starter at defensive tackle. He also practiced basketball and track.

He accepted a football scholarship from Temple University. As a freshman, he was a backup at defensive tackle and had one sack in the season opener against the College of William & Mary.

As a sophomore, he started 3 games at defensive tackle, before being converted into a right tackle and suffering a season-ending knee injury. As a junior, he started every game at right tackle, even though he was limited with a shoulder injury. As a senior, he started every game at right tackle.

Professional career

Yancey was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 6th round (158th overall) of the 1986 NFL Draft, to play offensive guard.[1] He also was selected by the Baltimore Stars in the 1986 USFL Territorial Draft. He suffered a knee injury in training camp and was placed on the injured reserve list on August 18.[2][3] He was waived on August 25, 1987.[4]

In 1988, he was signed as a free agent by the Minnesota Vikings. He was released on August 23.[5]
