Notable people

For many years in the 1960s to 1980s the world-renowned Smetana Quartet (Jiří Novák, Lubomír Kostecký, Milan Škampa and Antonín Kohout), who had purchased houses there, retreated to Lucany with their families for three months in the summer for rest and to prepare for the new concert-giving season. Just before they left they gave a free concert for the local people in the church, always playing a new Czech quartet which they had taken into their repertoire.
