Taxonomy

The genus was first described in 2020 by Y.J. Lin and S.Q. Li.[1] The authors did not explicitly assign the genus to a position within the Salticidae, although they stated that the name Megaeupoa referred to the "evolutionary relationship" of the genus (Megaeupoa means 'large Eupoa').[2] Eupoa is placed in the subfamily Eupoinae.[3]

As of August 2020, the World Spider Catalog accepted the following extant species:[1]

  • Megaeupoa gravelyi (Caleb, 2018) – India
  • Megaeupoa yanfengi Lin & Li, 2020 – China
