Miss Cebu
Binibining Cebu (formerly Miss Cebu Tourism from 1984 – 1999 and Miss Cebu from 2000 - 2016) is the new name to the oldest running beauty pageant in Cebu, Philippines.
History
The beauty pageant was held annually during the Sinulog Festival every January in Cebu City and run by the city government and city tourism office. However starting 2017, the pageant will be held every October under the new name, title, and organization.
On October 28, 2017, the first Binibining Cebu took place. A Non-Government organization launched the first Binibining Cebu, a beauty pageant that allows the municipalities and cities in Cebu to showcase their beautiful ladies and local products. The pageant, which is supported by the Sacred Heart School (SHS) Batch 1985 Foundation, also aims to highlight the heritage, culture and tourist attractions in Cebu. A total of 54 candidates vies for the Binibining Cebu title. There will be one representative each from the 44 municipalities and eight cities while two candidates will come from North and South of Cebu City.
According to Binibining Cebu website (http://www.binibiningcebu.com/), THEIR MISSION is to consistently highlight Cebu’s contributions to the Philippines and the world by bringing amazing Cebuano women to the forefront and support them as they pursue their individual goals not just for them, but for their fellow Cebuanos as well.
THEIR VISION is to be recognized as a world-class pageant that inspires cultural pride and a social consciousness among Cebuanos. The mission of Binibining Cebu is to provide a platform for extraordinary Cebuanas to share their strong interest in social and humanitarian issues, as well as to promote Cebu’s special cultural contributions to the world. The winning contestant will engage in various social, educational, cultural, and humanitarian activities in Cebu and other parts of the Philippines throughout her one-year reign as Binibining Cebu.
Binibining Cebu is presented by the Bb Sugbu Charity Foundation, in cooperation with the Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch 1985 Foundation, Inc.
