Muling Umawit ang Puso

Diosdado Rivera (Michael de Mesa) narrates the story of Loida Verano (Nora Aunor) is a famous actress, singer and box office. Dado is a film student when she learn about Loida. His dream is to become a director, and in his directorial debut, he wants Loida to be in the lead role. Loida's boyfriend, Tony Gallardo (Ricky Davao) is waiting for his biggest break. He wants to be Loida's partner in her next movie, but failed. In her major concert, after her performance, Loida saw Tony and her showbiz rival Glenda Andrada (Rita Avila) kissing. Loida along with her sister Lani (Suzette Ranillo) ran but was mobbed by the crowd. Then, an explosion was heard causing people to run and caused a stampede. Lani was unable to stand up because of the crowd, and began to bleed. She then gave birth to a boy, but died due to loss of blood. Loida mourned deeply, she couldn't sing or act and often drink. In October 1978, the people knew about Loida's situation. In a major concert that would be her last performance, she didn't appear in front of an angry crowd. She then left the limelight.

After 17 years, things changed. Tony and Glenda got married and Tony entered politics as a congressman. Loida is running a woodcarving business. With her nephew Vincent (Ian de Leon) and her boyfriend, journalist Miguel Sanchez (Albert Martinez). Loida also met Vincent's girlfriend Noemi Salazar (Donna Cruz). Noemi's mother Gracia (Luz Valdez) is a huge fan of Loida and she is good in singing. Loida helped Noemi to become a singer. She sought the help of her friends. First, she found Dindo (Rolando Tinio), a former showbiz columnist who retired from writing. They also found Dado who is also an activist. Dado reiterates that Loida should return and he will pursue his dream of directing a movie with Loida as his lead star. Loida trains Noemi from voice to acting. There, she became famous and dubbed as the one who will follow her footsteps. But, some events would trigger Loida to become strict to Noemi. This is when Noemi was saw talking to Glenda, who owns a production outfit. Glenda's husband Tony is running for another term in Congress along with Senator Labrador (Tony Mabesa). Until Noemi decided to leave Loida. Miguel was then murdered by Tony's men. Miguel wrote an article about the anomalies of Tony and Senator Labrador especially illegal logging and white slavery. One of Dado's talent Carla (Jennifer Sevilla) revealed about Senator Labrador's schemes. She would recruit young women who wanted to enter showbiz and presenting it to Senator Labrador. She also revealed that they are the masterminds in the murder of Miguel and that Noemi will be given to Senator Labrador. But, Carla committed suicide by slitting her wrist. Then Badong (Jim Pebanco) admits to Loida that he was the one involved in the stampede that caused the death of Lani. Loida also learned that Noemi will be performing at a political rally. Noemi came and apologized to Loida and she already learned about Tony's dirty schemes.

In a political rally, Loida came and addressed to the people about the crimes that Tony and Senator Labrador did. But, one of Tony's men was about to shoot Loida, eventually, Dado shielded her and died.
