Murat Erdoğan

Murat Erdoğan (born 1 August 1976 in London, England) is an English footballer of Turkish descent.[1]

Playing career

Murat is a left-footed, midfielder, who scored 48 goals during 410 professional appearances.

After being spotted playing one Sunday on Hackney Marshes in London, Murat was invited to play for Mersin İdman Yurdu. After a transfer to İstanbulspor, Murat's career saw him play for Gaziantepspor, Galatasaray, Malatyaspor, Ankaraspor, Sakaryaspor, MKE Ankaragücü, Sivasspor, Kasımpaşa, and Manisaspor.

In September 2009, Murat moved to Kasımpaşa S.K.[2] before returning to Mersin İdman Yurdu, where he ended his professional football career, playing for the team he first signed for sixteen years previously.

Professional career

Murat has remained heavily involved in Turkish football after he stopped playing in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Since 2018, Murat has been the director of ME10 Football, an agency for professional footballers dedicated to helping their ongoing development and the management of their careers. Murat has been instumental in a number of transfers, including Aaron Lennon’s move from English Premier League club Burnley F.C. to Kayserispor at the start of September 2020. From 2016 to 2018 Murat was the Chairman and co-owner of Tuzlaspor.

Murat worked as Sporting Director for Konyaspor from 2015 to 2016 alongside Aykut Kocaman. During that time he attended a leaders conference held at the Emirates Stadium with Guus Hiddink, Fatih Terim, Şenol Güneş, Aykut Kocaman and Roberto Carlos.

Prior to that Murat worked for Sivasspor as Sporting Director from June 2013 until February 2014 with the club's Manager Roberto Carlos.

Personal

Murat lives in Istanbul, Bodrum and London.

Murat regularly still plays football[3] and keeps fit.
