New York's 38th State Senate district is one of 63 districts in the New York State Senate. It has been represented by Democrat Elijah Reichlin-Melnick since 2021.[3][4] Reichlin-Melnick previously served as a member of the Nyack Village Board of Trustees and was also the legislative director for state senator James Skoufis, who currently represents New York's 39th State Senate District.[5] The former state senator, David Carlucci, a former member of the Independent Democratic Conference, ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2020, leaving the seat open.[6]
