Nick Read

Nicholas Jonathan Read (born 1964) is a British businessman, and the CEO Vodafone Group.

Early life

He earned a degree in accounting and finance from Manchester Polytechnic (now Manchester Metropolitan University) in 1986.[1] He is a Certified Management Accountant.[1]

Career

He worked for United Business Media Plc and Federal Express Worldwide, rising to chief financial officer for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region.[1][2]

He joined Vodafone UK in 2001 as the finance director.[2] On 1 May 2006, he became chief executive of Vodafone UK, when Arun Sarin was the chief executive of Vodafone.[1]

In 2014, Read became the chief financial officer of Vodafone and joined the company's board.[2]

In May 2018, Vittorio Colao announced that he would step down as Vodafone CEO, effective October 2018, and that he would be succeeded by Read, the finance director.[3][4]
