The school campus is located on the edge of Worcester, surrounded by some 15 acres (61,000 m2) of gardens and playing fields, which it shares with the adjacent Sixth Form College. The school benefits, from refurbished or purpose built extensions, including facilities for Science, English, Music, Art & Design, Languages and ICT. The school’s sports centre, has an all weather outdoor pitch, and an athletics track.

History

Following one restructuring of schools in Worcestershire, in 1983, the Nunnery Wood Secondary School was renamed Nunnery Wood High School.

The school gained Science College status in 2004. The school's science department was awarded the prestigious Platinum Science Mark Award in October 2020.[1]

73% of students achieved five or more A* to C GCSE qualifications, in the summer of 2008.[2] Students, in Year 11, had the highest pass rate of all time for the school in the English Language GCSE, in November 2013, with over 82% of the school year achieving qualifications of A* to C, in their GCSEs.[3] Following an inspection by Ofsted in October 2008, the school was accorded an overall assessment of "Grade 1" (Outstanding).[4]

Previously a community school administered by Worcestershire County Council, in August 2011 Nunnery Wood High School converted to academy status.

Two school pupils, in Year 7, were rushed to hospital after taking banned vitamin pills, in July 2019.[5]

Jed McCrory announced sport winners at Nunnery Wood High School, at the twelfth annual sports awards ceremony in July 2019.[6]
