It is located in the Southwest Finland region. The municipality has a population of 1,333 (31 July 2020)[2] and covers an area of 117.72 square kilometres (45.45 sq mi) of which 0.1 km2 (0.039 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 11.33 inhabitants per square kilometre (29.3/sq mi).

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
