Early years

Lawrence attended Neville High School in Monroe, Louisiana. He was selected to play in the 2016 Under Armour All-America Game, but did not play due to injury.[1] A five-star recruit, he committed to Louisiana State University (LSU) to play college football.[2][3]

College career

As a true freshman at LSU in 2016, Lawrence played in nine games and had six tackles and one sack.[4] He became a starter his sophomore year in 2017.[5] He started 10 games, recording 32 tackles and 1.5 sacks.[6] As a junior in 2018 he started all 13 games, finishing with 54 tackles and four sacks.[7] He was named the MVP of the 2019 Fiesta Bowl after recording two sacks.[8] Lawrence returned to LSU for his senior year in 2019, rather than enter the 2019 NFL Draft.[9][10]
