History

Regional Australia Bank's beginnings started with New England Staff Credit Union at The University of New England in 1969. Following mergers with Peel Valley Credit Union in 2004, Orana Credit Union in 2008 and Hunter Mutual in 2010, they became New England Mutual, Orana Mutual and Hunter Mutual in the relevant geographical areas, falling under the overarching brand of the Community Mutual Group. In 2016 they changed their trading name to Regional Australia Bank, while retaining the corporate entity of Community Mutual Ltd. In May 2018, the corporate entity name was changed to Regional Australia Bank Ltd.

Open Banking

Regional Australia Bank was the first Accredited Data Recipient of Australia’s Consumer Data Right, part of an Australian Open banking initiative.[2]
