Ronald Aldon Hicks

Ronald Aldon Hicks (born August 4, 1967) is an American prelate of the Catholic Church who serves as bishop for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet. He was appointed on July 17, 2020 and installed on September 29, 2020.

Biography

Hicks earned a bachelor's degree from Loyola University in Chicago and master's degrees from the University of Saint Mary of the Lake in Mundelein.[1] He was ordained a priest on May 21, 1994. Pope Francis appointed Hicks titular bishop of Munatiana and auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Chicago on July 3, 2018.[2][3] On September 17, 2018, Hicks was consecrated a bishop by Cardinal Blaise Cupich of Chicago joined by two retiring Auxiliary Bishops of Chicago, Francis J. Kane and George J. Rassas.[4]

On July 17, 2020, Hicks was named Bishop of the Diocese of Joliet.[5][6] He was installed in the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus on September 29, 2020; the congregation was limited to 20% of capacity because of the COVID-19 pandemic.[1]
