Background and release

"Route 246" was released two months after "Sekaijū no Rinjin yo", and was also released digitally only.[2] The song was the first song composed by Tetsuya Komuro since his retirement from the music industry in 2018.[3][4]

The full song was played for the first time on the Japanese radio program Nogizaka46's All Night Nippon on July 22,[5] and performed on TV Asahi's Music Station.

The full version of music video was released only in the group's video album, All MV Colletction 2: Ano Toki no Kanojotachi.[6]
