Design
The SAR 109T is a lightweight and modular submachine gun that resembles the American ArmaLite AR-15 (M16).[3][2] According to the manufacturer, it has a calibre of 9×19mm, 10, 20, and 30 round magazines, right case discharge with single shooting mode,[1] a standard length of 620 mm with an extended length of 705 mm, a width of 55 mm, a height of 277 mm, and a barrel length of 220 mm.[1]
The barrel has polygonal rifling and a spin length of 2.5 mm.[3] A force of 25 N is required to pull the trigger.[1] The gun has a fire rate of 900-1000 shots per minute,[3] a muzzle velocity of 396 m/s,[1] and a right turn 6-yiv set barrel profile.[1]
The chassis of the 109T is a two-part aluminium alloy receiver with a hammer-fired mil-spec trigger. Firing controls include an M16-type non-reciprocating charging handle and an M16-style fire mode selector/safety switch.[4]
The SAR 109T also features a Picatinny rail, which allows for quick mounting of NATO accessories without additional tools.[3][2]
Sar 109T is a masterpiece for close combat weighing just 5.3 lbs without charger, and when fully loaded it sits around 6.58 lbs. It was specially designed for the Turkish army to be used in tactical shooting scenarios and as also as a reliable weapon for home defence.
