At the age of twelve, he was nominated for a Tony Award for his portrayal of Ally in the Broadway musical Golden Rainbow, which starred Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gormé. He also had a recurring role on the 1980s sitcom The Golden Girls as Dorothy's musician son, Michael Zbornak.
