Select Group

The Select Group is a panel of English professional football referees and assistant referees, appointed by Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL).

Select Group 1

The Select Group was established in 2001, when referees in England became professional.[1] Select Group 1 (SG1) primarily officiate in the Premier League, but can be appointed to any game in the English Football League. The group currently consists of 19 referees and 35 assistant referees.

Select Group 2

Select Group 2 (SG2) was formed in 2016 and currently consists of 21 referees and 35 assistant referees.[3] The group primarily officiate in the EFL Championship but can be appointed to any English Football League fixtures.
