Shameless (season 11)
The eleventh and final season of Shameless, an American comedy-drama television series based on the British series of the same name by Paul Abbott, premiered on Showtime on December 6, 2020.[1] Showtime announced the series' final season renewal on January 13, 2020.[2]

Gentrification starts to affect Chicago due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, which leads Kevin and Veronica to turn to selling marijuana products since city ordinances shut down bars. Lip and Tami are also dealing with the financial effects of the pandemic, while Debbie faces hardship in landing jobs after an error on the sex offender registry. Carl is training in the police academy to become an officer, and newlyweds Ian and Mickey are dealing with communication issues about their finances and other marital issues. Frank discusses ways to revert the effects of gentrification in the area, while also giving his version of Chicago's history. | |||||||

Tami's infant nephew is diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, which leads her family to make sacrifices to pay for the $65,000 in co-pay expenses. Debbie tries to juggle parenting and work, but fails miserably at both. After Mickey tries to top Ian, for the first time, Ian and Mickey argue about their relationship dynamics. Kev starts to splurge and show off his money made from the Cannabis business, which leads to a carjacking. Carl gets a new partner, who is more concerned with street justice than his first training officer. After the city condemns the Milkovich house, Terry and his brood move in right next door to the Gallaghers, and Frank, Kev and Liam concoct a plan to uproot them, after they start to become an eyesore for the neighborhood. V enters Gemma in the Little Miss Southside pageant, but things get competitive and ugly when she finds out that Debbie is entering Franny as well. Mickey tries to get Ian to join him in his new security gig, but Ian is reluctant due the risk of him and Mickey violating parole. Tami and Lip get an invite to go to brunch with her old music teacher, but Lip figures out he was more than just her teacher and Tami finds out her relationship with him wasn't all that she thought it was. Carl begins to see the negative side of Officer Janes, which causes Carl to evaluate his role as a police officer. | |||||||

Production
In January 2020, the series was renewed for its eleventh and final season to consist of 12 episodes and was scheduled to premiere in summer 2020.[14] Filming and the premiere date were pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and filming instead began in September 2020.[15]
On December 14, 2020, Showtime announced a six-episode limited series retrospective that would air during season 11 called Shameless Hall of Shame; it contains new and original Shameless scenes juxtaposed with a retrospective look at each character's journey during the prior 10 seasons:[16]

- Episode 2: Kev & V: God Doesn't Give with Both Hands (aired January 3, 2021)
- Episode 3: Lip: Once Upon a Phillip Gallagher (aired January 17, 2021)

Reception
Critical response
The eleventh season of Shameless has received mixed reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the season has a 60% approval rating with an average score of 5.08 out of 10 based on 5 reviews.[17]
