Shaptul
Shaptul (Xaptul[3][4] Uighur: شاپتۇل بازىرى / Xiaputule 夏普吐勒镇, formerly شاپتۇل يېزىسى / 夏普吐勒乡) is a town (formerly a township) in Payzawat County, Kashgar Prefecture, Xinjiang, China.

Name
Shaptul as also been written in Chinese characters as Xiabutuoqu (下布托渠[4]).
History
In 1958, Shaptul was part of Gaochao Commune (高潮公社).[1]
In 1964, Xiafutao Commune (夏甫桃公社) was created from part of Gaochao Commune.[1]
In 1966, the commune was renamed Dongfeng Commune (东风公社).[1]
In 1984, the commune was made into Shaptul Township (夏普吐勒乡).[1]
On October 20, 2014, Shaptul Township was disestablished and Shaptul Town was created.[5]
