Shrenu Parikh (born 11 November)[2] is an Indian television actress known for portraying Aastha Agnihotri in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir and Janhvi Mittal in Ek Bhram...Sarvagun Sampanna.

Early life and education

Parikh is from Vadodara, Gujarat, India.[3] She attended Navrachana Vidyani Vidyalaya high school[4] and later graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Babaria Institute of Pharmacy.[5][6] She has a younger brother, Shubham Parikh.[7]

Career

Parikh’s first television appearance was a cameo role in the show Gulaal (2010). She then appeared in the show Havan (2011).

Parikh secured her first television lead role in the romantic comedy Byaah Hamari Bahoo Ka opposite Gaurav Khanna. Speaking about her experience in this series, she says “I learnt voice modulation and working on body language. I have grown as an actor”.[8]

From 2013 to 2015, she rose to fame for her portrayal of Aastha Agnihotri in StarPlus’s romantic drama Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir paired opposite Avinash Sachdev. Speaking about her experience in this show, Parikh stated that it was her turning point in her career since she was offered future roles because of her recognition as Aastha.[9]

In 2017, Parikh starred in the first television spin-off series on StarPlus, Dil Boley Oberoi portraying Gauri Kumari Sharma opposite Kunal Jaisingh.[10] This series was later merged with Ishqbaaaz in which Parikh continued her portrayal of Guari in the drama series Ishqbaaaz from 2017 to 2018.[11] Parikh quit the show after the series took a major leap.[12]

In 2017, she went on to make her film debut in Thodi Thodi Si Manmaaniyan opposite Arsh Sehrawat.[13] In 2018, she starred in her second film, Lamboo Rastoo opposite Jay Soni.[14]

In 2019, Parikh played her first anti-heroine role in the drama series Ek Bhram...Sarvagun Sampanna paired opposite Zain Imam. Speaking why she chose to portray this role, Parikh says “I always had this thing in my mind that I wanted to do something unlike my other roles. I wanted to do something challenging for sure. Ek Bhram — Sarvagun Sampanna has everything I was looking for.” Parikh claims that she started to audition for this while she was shooting for Ishqbaaaz. When she learnt more about her character, she initially refused to take up the role, but the producers were convinced that she can portray this role.[15]

Media

In 2017, Parikh was crowned Ahmedabad's Most Desirable Woman by Times of India.[16] In 2018, she was ranked 17th in Times of India's Top 20 Most Desirable Women On Television.[17] She was also crowned Ahmedabad's Most Desirable Woman for the second year in a row.[18] She was ranked 20th in Times of India's Most Desirable Women On Television List 2019.[19]
