Sopiko Guramishvili

Sopiko Guramishvili (Georgian: სოფიკო გურამიშვილი; born 1 January 1991) is a Georgian and Dutch chess player. She was awarded by FIDE the titles Woman Grandmaster (WGM) in 2009 and International Master (IM) in 2012.

Chess career

In 2004, Guramishvili won a match with Irene Kharisma Sukandar ("Enerpac Chess Match") in Jakarta by 4–2.[1] She won the Girls U16 section of the World Youth Chess Championships in 2006.[2]

She won the bronze medal in the women's event of the 2010 World University Chess Championship in Zurich.[3]

In January 2012, Guramishvili won the women's round-robin event of the Reggio Emilia chess tournament.[4]

In October 2015, she won a six-game match with Anna-Maja Kazarian, the then European U16 girls' champion, by a score of 5½-½ at the Hoogeveen Chess Festival.[5] Guramishvili competed in the Women's World Chess Championship in 2015 and 2017.

Personal life

On 18 July 2015 Sopiko Guramishvili married the Dutch grandmaster Anish Giri.[6] On 3 October 2016, while Giri was playing the Tal Memorial, their son Daniel was born.[7]
