Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005

Spain participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with "Brujería" sung by the trio Son de Sol, and was written and composed by Alfredo Panebianco. The song was chosen by a national final, and at Eurovision, it placed 21st receiving 28 points.

Before Eurovision

Eurovisión 2005: Elige nuestra canción

Eurovisión 2005: Elige nuestra canción was the national final organised by TVE that took place from 9 January 2007 to 24 February 2007 at the Estudios Buñuel in Madrid, hosted by Carlos Lozano, Patricia Pérez and Ainhoa Arbizu. Twelve artists and songs competed over two shows with the winner being decided upon through public televoting.

Competing entries

Twelve participants were invited to compete in the national final by the broadcaster from among artists signed to record labels. Among the competing artists was the controversial trio Las Supremas de Móstoles. Between 28 February 2005 and 4 March 2005, the competing songs were premiered on the television programme Por la mañana, broadcast on TVE 1, as well as on a special show presented by Patricia Pérez and Ainhoa Arbizu, broadcast on La 2.[1]

Semi-final

The televised semi-final took place on 4 March 2006. Six entries qualified for the final through a public vote via televote and SMS.

Final

The televised final took place on 5 March 2005. The six entries that qualified from the preceding semi-final competed, and the winner, "Brujería" performed by Son de Sol, was selected through a public vote via televote and SMS.

At Eurovision

Spain automatically qualified for the grand final, on 21 May 2005; as part of the "Big Four". During the placement draw, it was determined that Spain would perform 10th. On 21 May, Spain placed 21st with 28 points.

The spokesperson who revealed Spain's votes for other countries was TVE and national final host Ainhoa Arbizu.[2]
